1-Report
Programs—Movies on the Lawn was well attended at all three venues. There were a few glitches each night, but different glitches each night. Next year the Programs Council member needs to review power supply in the West Bowl with Maintenance before the event Resident Council needs to purchase extension cords or borrow extras from Maintenance or the Resident Assistants. Resident Council may want to get an adaptor so we can use one of the longer extension cords that has a three-pronged plug. The amp in one of the speakers needs to be repaired. A resident volunteered to take care of the repair. Rick suggested that Resident Council take it to the Electronics Shop on campus. Lianne will follow up.
Raging Waters is scheduled for August 21, 2009 and tickets go on sale August 10, 2009 at the Main Office. Children two and under are free. Lianne will confirm the time residents can enter the park; the fliers say 3:00p.m., but the tickets say 4:00p.m. Resident Council will provide granola bars and watermelon from 4:00-5:00p.m. at cabana #11.
Lianne will meet with her board next Tuesday, August 11, 2009 and to solidify plans for the Block Party. The Block Party will focus on Emergency Preparedness, but there will still be bounce houses. Ice cream cones will be served.
Finance— Marci has been working on the calendar which will be printed on the back of News and Views starting in September. Marci is also working on the September Resident Council section for News and Views.
Resident Council is working on putting classified ads online. If we are unable to set up a system to update ads continually, new ads will be posted weekly. Marci will write up an email explaining the transition and send to the RA’s that they can incorporate into their newsletters.
Facilities— Jeremy Brown will teach his drum lessons in the East Community Center Saturdays from 9-10:00 am; it will be an eight week course. Melissa will email him to inform him and get him started signing the extended usage agreement. Three other residents have requested the community center for children’s dance classes in the Fall. Melissa will talk with the residents and determine which classes will be allowed to use the centers. Only one night per week per community center can be reserved on an extended basis.
Melissa will email the RHA representative, Mitch Christensen and find out if he wants to rent the screen for his showing of the movie, “Up” on August 20, 2009. Melissa will also inform the 1400 Court RA that she may use our equipment for her court party August 14, 2009.
Melissa will finish up the Food Co-op fliers and send them to be printed.
Mayor—Advisory Board members requested that the Advisory Board meetings be scheduled from 3:30-4:30. Trina will email them and find out if Wednesdays will work since it works better for Resident Council members.
Trina will call ASUU and ask when our student group needs to re-register.
Office Input— The Main Office bought new barricade signs for Resident Council. Resident Council will apply for funds from ASUU Special Projects to reimburse University Student Apartments.
