Resident Council Minutes July 1, 2009

1-Report   

Programs—Sprinkler Day will go as scheduled. Everyone should be there by 1:00 pm. to help set up. If there is lightening the event will be canceled.
Resident Council decided to rent the more expensive projector for Movies on the Lawn. The Non-Trad Board will provide snow cones and cotton candy. Resident Council bring popcorn and drinks.
The Union Programs Council wants to know what they can advertise at Student Apartments and how to go about it. Lianne will inform them that fliers/events need to pertinent to our residents. They should have Valerie review and approve any potential flyers. They need to print the correct number of flyers and have them turned in by the deadline. Activities this year that Union Programs Council would like collaborate with Resident Council on are the Spookfest on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 and Date Night on March 10, 2010.
Resident Council Programs Board is thinking about having a themed Block Party in the fall. They are looking at having carnival games, ice cream, cotton candy instead of bounce toys. The Union Programs Council will help with food and staffing. Lianne looked at different meat companies and the best deal is from Dans.
Raging Water tickets arrived and have been turned into Valerie Green..

Finance— There are a few outstanding receipts from last year. It looks like Resident Council will be slightly over budget.
University Publications Council reduced our budget from $800 to $640. Marci will look into putting classifieds online.
Lianne and Marci will get together to make a budget set the budget for the upcoming year.
Marci looked at volleyballs and nets. She found a good net for about $200 and volleyballs for $35. Rick said he would purchase a new net and two new volleyball balls from his budget.. Resident Council will reimburse USA from any funds received from ASUU.

Facilities— The June Food Co-op went well. Shaela Beck did a great job. Melissa will email her and ask where the volunteer log sheet is that needs to be faxed back to the Co-op. Melissa will be gone July 10th Trina will turn in the July order forms to Crossroads. Melissa will begin making a Food Co-op flyer for fall.
Flyers for the summer dance class are ready. Aileen Tamez has completed the necessary paperwork and will turn in the student waivers as soon as she gets them signed.
Amanda Lackey emailed Resident Council to ask if she could still teach her dance classes even though she is moving away. Valerie informed her Resident Council would need to approve it and that current residents would receive priority.
Melissa posted her the Resident Council newsletter online. The RA’s have been told about it and will include information about it in their court newsletters The next Resident Council email that goes out will also have a link.
Melissa emailed those residents who have recently used the East Community Center and informed them of the East Community Center table and chairs cleaning party July 21, 2009 at 7:00 pm.    

Mayor— July meetings will be July 1, 8, and 22 at 8:15 am. Marci will be excused on July 22nd.

Office Input—Roads are taking a little longer than scheduled, but the first half of the project should be done next week.
Next fall Campus Recreation will have a membership pass that can be used for all exercise classes. Campus Recreation will allow Residents to purchase an option without a field house membership that can be used for the classes at the Community Centers.
Thomas Jarvis, the Non-Trad Board Chair came and talked to us about some of the things they would like to do this year. They would like to help bring Homecoming to the Village. Other ideas include a family activity and free babysitting for the Homecoming Dance. The Non-Trad Board is also interested in doing information series for our residents.

2-Conclude
