1-Report
Programs—Movies on the Lawn is next week July 30, 31st and August 1st. Lianne will blow up the screen and check the sound system this weekend to make sure everything is ready. The movie will begin at approximately 9:15 pm. Resident Council members need to show up at 8:00 pm to help set up. Lianne will touch base with Tom Hammerstrom to make sure Grounds doesn’t water the lawn that day. Lianne will get the key for the electrical room to turn off the flood light on the back of the 1200 B Building. Lianne will write a resident email reminder about Movies on the Lawn This email will have hyperlinks to the Resident Council Facility Newsletter.
Lianne will write up instructions on Raging Waters tickets for the cashier and other office staff. Watermelon, granola bars, pop, Capri Sun, and water will be served from 4-5pm in cabana 11. Melissa and the Programs Board will arrive to help with set up at 2:45pm.
Many campus and community entities have already committed to the September 19, 2009 Block Party including the fire department and the Red Cross.
Finance— The new budget format looks good, but needs a few changes. ASUU has currently approved $2,500, but Resident Council will apply for an additional $2,500 in the fall budgeting process. The $1,200 expense recovery noted in the budget is the money received from Raging Water ticket sales.
Facilities— The garden plots are going well. One resident complained about children stepping in their garden plot. Melissa informed the resident that an incident report can be filed if they know who did it. Resident Council will emphasize adult supervision in the gardens and remind everyone to be respectful of others’ gardens. Melissa laminated and posted new bulletin announcements in the gardens.
The ECC clean up went quickly. The chairs were the dirtiest, but the tables were not very dirty. The closet got vacuumed out as well.
Resident Council approved a drum class to be taught in the community center. Melissa will contact the resident to schedule the dates and fill out the paperwork.. Valerie will talk to Campus Recreation about their fall schedule so that the fall schedules for classes can be finalized.. Melissa will email the current dance teacher and remind her that now is the time to request the center for fall classes.
Melissa will be out of town for the Food co-op pick up, but will let Trina know if they need help. Resident Council will request the Food Co-op volunteers to staff a table at the Block Party.
Melissa will make a half sheet bulletin board flyer for the Star Gazing and S’more Party Tuesday August 11th.
Mayor—Resident Council will investigate posting a link to the University of Utah Emergency Management Plan. Their website includes information about the Campus Alert System and links to useful emergency preparedness websites. The Main Office will have access to the Campus Alert system for localized emergencies like power outages and water shut offs. USA will distribute a door-to-door flyer and an email to help residents get enrolled in the Campus Alert System. Residents need to be encouraged to have their own personal emergency plan, a 72 hour kit, & out-of-state contact.
Resident Council meetings for August will be August 7th, 12th, and 19th at 8:15 am.
Trina will contact the Advisory Board and ask them what times work best for the Fall Quarter Advisory Board meetings. Valerie will email Trina George Lindsey’s new email address.
Resident Council will donate their left over hotdogs and & hamburgers to Resident Assistants for their summer BBQs.
Office Input— The road construction project is going well and should be completed by August 15th.
Roofing upgrades will begin in September.
