1-Report
Programs—All 200 Raging Waters tickets were sold before the noon deadline. Several residents went to Raging Waters and received the $7.95 deal at the door. Residents liked the watermelon and granola bars. The programs Board may want to pre-cut the watermelon in the future. Next year we should verify in advance if Raging Waters will sell discounted tickets at the door if we run out of the pre-purchased tickets. If so, Resident Council should inform the cashier so he or she can inform residents about ticket availability after they have sold out here.
Valerie ordered thirty tables for the Block Party. Lianne requested eight additional tables. The Main Office has a few tables in the 722 building and Lianne should talk with Maintenance about additional tables. Lianne is waiting for Ultimate Inflatables to return their proof of insurance. Ultimate Inflatables needs to have minimum $1 million liability insurance and the University needs to be listed as the additional insured.
Lianne will call Campus Storesand have them deliver a helium tank to building 722. We need to make sure the tank is ready to be picked up at the proper time with all of the equipment to avoid a late fee. Balloons will be filled in 722. Lianne asked if we could use the office’s minivan to pick up the pizzas. Rick and Valerie informed Resident Council that they could, but the driver would have to go through the University’s approved procedure to drive the University vehicles. Marci said she had a van Resident Council could use.
Resident Council is planning to buy 225 pizzas from Little Caesars and serve them with salad and drinks. Trina suggested Resident Council bring an extra pizza cutter. . Cotton Candy, ice cream and popcorn will also be available at the event. Lianne will email Valerie a list of duties and a schedule for Resident Assistants to fill out for the event. Everyone on Resident Council needs to show up by 8:00 am. Little Gym may bring tumbling pads for children to tumble on under the trees in the 600 court. Lianne will send an itemized list of what we need Maintenance to deliver for the event. If the rocket launcher is working Resident Council will pre-cut fins for the rockets. Lianne is working on the map layout for the bowl.
Finance— Marci met with Rob Phillips, ASUU Accountant and had a good meeting. Marci also met Liz Peterson, the ASUU Finance Chair. They both indicated that Resident Council can continue to request reimbursement for food from ASUU. Marci will attend the ASUU Budget workshop on September 25, 2009 at 1:00 pm. The budget request for additional funding from ASUU is due October 2, 2009. ASUU gave Marci a detailed list of what reimbursement requests were turned in last year.
Chris created a handout informing residents that the classifieds are going online. These will be handed out at the Block Party and distributed via the RA’s for the bulletin boards on September 24, 2009. Classifieds will be posted online every Thursday by noon beginning October 1, 2009. Residents must submit ads by Tuesday at midnight for the posting on-line on Thursday. The previous three weeks of classified ads will be available online.
Marci will attend the next RA meeting on Sept 10, 2009 and talk to them about participating in the Village People. Several RA’s have signed up to help, but Resident Council would like more involvement from residents..
Facilities—A hose is missing in the East gardens. Melissa will take a black permanent marker and mark the hose as U.S.A. Dates for the garden clean up are October 26, 2009 through November 3, 2009. Only residents with garden plots will need a door-to-door reminder about the clean up. Valerie will ask Karen to create a new garden plot list and get it to Melissa so she can get the fliers ready for individual distribution..
All the paperwork for residents using the Community Centers for dance and drumming classes this Fall have been turned in.
The movie screening with Mitch went well, although it takes about an hour to put up by yourself. Melissa will follow up with Mitch on the campus order as it has not yet come in.
The Food Co-op went well last month. Orders are no longer accepted at the Main Office. Melissa will check to see if Shaela faxed the volunteer hour paperwork back to the Food Co-op main office. The Food Co-op fliers for the bulletin boards have been distributed.
Mayor—The next meeting will be September 16, 2009 from 4-5pm. Our Advisory Board meeting will be September 23, 2009 from 3:30-4:30 pm. Trina will bring treats.
Office Input— Roofing repairs have been done on some buildings. The re-roofing projects will start next week, one building at a time.
